My Summer 2018 Executive Letter!

Happy Summer to the greater NCHRA Community — as well as those who are considering joining our community….

This past spring, here at the Next Concept HR Association, we’ve been enjoying viewing HR West 2018 photos in the Facebook gallery as we eagerly await the 3rd annual HR TechXpo coming up in August.

On the HR West Magazine blog, contributors have been tackling the big topics of transparency and trust. We all know this is no longer just a buzzword or lofty goal in the future. Never before has there been a time as fertile for transparency, and quite often that’s not voluntary!

Still, if you’re maximizing the tools of today, in accordance with long established principles of trust, your opportunities to strengthen your culture through your own organizational openness, are limitless.

How can we continue to improve transparency for growing trust between employer and employee? — This is our challenge!

Let us know what you think by posting in our online community of NCHRA Connect or commenting here on my blog (I plan to write more in the upcoming months)! To help us sharpen our skills and framework around transparency, upcoming blog contributors will share ways we can cultivate more trust, take caution when snooping through applicants’ social media accounts, and build transparent communication around sometimes difficult topics like disability compliance and stigmatized conversations. We’ll even learn how fostering more transparency can help employees get healthier!

As I write this letter, spring is almost drawing to a close, students are graduating, and we are rapidly approaching the longest day of the year. Looking back over the recent months HR West 2018 was certainly a stand out. I hope you were able to attend. This year’s event was perhaps the greatest we’ve ever produced, and I hope it acted as a catalyst of knowledge and energy for you this season.

Have you identified a day conference, seminar or eProgram that will help you tackle your responsibilities all while getting you continued recertification credit? There are many opportunities to continue advancing your skills and career this season.

In the spirit of renewal and growth as we approach summertime, I hope you’ll take the time to explore what’s included in an NCHRA membership:

  1. We’ve added a great new tool (HR360) this year to help you with all kinds of day-to-day tasks related to your HR responsibilities. Although these can be common and sometimes mundane, they are what makes or breaks a company, so it’s extremely beneficial to have HR360 to confirm your processes and decisions.
  2. We are also growing our online NCHRAConnect community and are continuing to add new special interest groups to better serve your individual needs.
  3. And if you’re looking for personal renewal, don’t forget to take advantage of the free, 12-month subscription to the Headspace App, designed to make meditation simple.
  4. Finally, if you are in need of ideas about how to best use your NCHRA membership, you may want to come out to one of our many regional meetings, HR Meetups, and socials. There you’ll be able to meet colleagues of your HR association community and find out how they’re maximizing membership, while enriching your network of resources that can help you professionally no matter what the professional challenge.

Here’s to the second half of 2018! Let’s continue to grow and learn from one another!
